OIL PAINTINGS
Ruth Williams’ paintings evolve from the emotions felt while creating them. Often what is painted is not from a direct source but emerges from what is emanating from within. . “Once completed, my work is no longer about what I felt while creating and becomes more importantly about the feelings and reactions it evokes in the viewer.” Ruth grew up surrounded by the paintings her parents collected during their travels. Her father a Jewish immigrant from Poland and her mother, a Brooklyn born American from modest means, were unlikely collectors. It was there, in her childhood home, where Ruth believes she unknowingly developed her appreciation for art as well an artist’s ability to communicate through their work. Since the early 2000’s Ruth has studied independently working with artists Judy Soprano, Angela Amato, Lillian Orlawsky, Salvatore Del Deo, Robert Cardinal, TJ Walton, Brenda Hororwitz, Carol Pelletier, Cynthia Packard and Anne Packard. Each of these teachers, in their own way, helped Ruth discover some unique part of her artistic voice.
